Merry Humbug

by The Grump on Dec.18, 2009, under Rants

This week I got to attend the holiday reception at work. Since when did the Christmas party become the holiday reception anyway? I mean I get it, not everyone celebrates Christmas. But is it REALLY that offensive to other people? Perhaps it is. I honestly don’t care what people call it, but I suppose nobody wants to get sued…

I can live with the generic party names, but what really annoys me is all this “happy holidays” bullshit. So many people say that now. Academics have another cop-out approach. You can just tell somebody to have a “good break”. I mean if you celebrate Christmas then just say Merry Christmas. You are wishing something nice on another person. If they get offended it is their damn problem. Do you really think Jesus would tell you to have a “happy holiday”? Hell no. He would wish you a “merry fucking Christmas”. Then he would take out all the terrorists and save Santa’s ass from certain doom.

If you are one of those overly sensitive types who is afraid to offend people I will offer you this, it should safely allow you to wish everybody whatever they want without fear.
